Christmas Planning Tips & Free Printable Checklists 2025

Christmas Planning Tips Plus Printable Checklists

Christmas is such a magical time of the year! It’s that special moment when we get to unwind after a busy year and soak up the joy of being with family and friends.

One of the best parts? Watching the little ones’ faces light up as they tear into their presents—pure joy!

But let’s be honest: Christmas can also bring a whirlwind of stress. Running around, ticking off endless to-dos, and making sure everything is perfect for the big day can take its toll.

Last year, I made a promise to myself—start planning for Christmas early. And let me tell you, it was a total game-changer! So, I’m sharing my Christmas Planning Tips to help you get ahead this year, too. With a little organisation, you can sail through the season with less stress and more joy. Plus, we’ve created some free Christmas Checklists and Planners, to keep you on track.

Start Planning Christmas Early

First tip: give yourself plenty of time. Christmas isn’t just about the big day—it’s everything leading up to it: planning meals, buying gifts, prepping your home, organising trips, and juggling events.

Starting early helps you:

  • Reduce stress – tackle one thing at a time and avoid the last-minute rush.
  • Control your budget – spread out your spending over a few weeks.
  • Enjoy the season – focus on what truly matters: time with loved ones.

Where Will You Be Spending Christmas?

This is the first big decision! Whether you’re hosting Christmas at home or travelling, you’ll need a plan.

Staying at Home:

  • Are you hosting Christmas lunch or having guests over?
  • Do you have family or friends staying for the holidays? Time to get guest rooms ready.
  • Need holiday home décor inspiration? Check out our Como Cushion Range in Christmas colours for the perfect festive backdrop.

Traveling:

  • Book accommodation and tickets early.
  • Check if your car needs a service before a road trip.
  • Pack thoughtfully and plan your outfits ahead of time.

No matter where you are, planning early avoids last-minute scrambles.

Use a Christmas Planning Calendar

One of my favourite tricks for staying organised is a Christmas Planning Calendar. Mapping out November and December helps you see all your commitments at a glance and avoid double-booking.

Things to consider:

  • When to put up the Christmas tree and start decorating.
  • Dates for family gatherings and holiday events (grab tickets early!).
  • When to go Christmas gift shopping.
  • Time for grocery shopping for Christmas Day meals.
